About Kara Shade

I am passionate about healthy relationships and strong marriages and love the work I do! As a family mediator, I eased couples through the divorce and child custody process, helping them move past their ongoing (often destructive) conflicts to start their new, “separate” lives as peacefully as possible. After working at a nonprofit in Dallas focused on relationship and family strengthening, I knew I wanted to shift my efforts to prevention. I became bound and determined to use my training in relationship education, conflict management, and communication to reach couples earlier, before trouble creeps in. In 2014, my vision for Verge began to take shape.

Today, I equip couples with the research-based, practical tools they need to approach transitions with confidence, setting them up for long-term success. I also consult and train in a variety of areas. I present regularly on conflict resolution, communication, and relationship dynamics for organizations and community groups. I have also taught/facilitated family sciences and conflict management courses at local universities.

I am blessed to “do life” with my faithful, silly, endlessly patient husband, our energetic, curious little girl, and our newborn baby boy. Marriage has been my most daring, humbling, and incredible adventure yet – one that fuels my passion for this work each and every day.
